Setup help, the fixes for putts the camera cannot read, and what to do about subscriptions and your data. If none of it helps, email emmett.deen@deenventurestudio.com — typical reply within 24 hours.
Getting set up
Nearly every support email traces back to one of these three, so it is worth two minutes.
- Phone in landscape, on a tripod or propped steady.
- Above the ball, camera straight down, with your putting line down the middle.
- A flat mat or practice green, in even light.
Learn 2 Putt measures putts taken in that setup. Outside it — phone in hand, a dim or steeply sloping surface, or a ball that leaves the frame — it tells you it could not read the putt instead of guessing a number.
Requirements: iOS 15 or later. Camera measurement runs on iPhone at launch. The Android build is in development and does not measure putts yet.
Troubleshooting
The app says it could not read my putt
That message is deliberate — the app would rather admit it missed a putt than log a number it does not trust. The usual causes, roughly in order:
- The ball left the frame. Raise the phone or shorten the putt so the whole roll stays in shot.
- The camera is not looking straight down. An angled view distorts the distances the app is measuring.
- The light is too low or too uneven. A bright patch and a dark patch on the same mat is harder than a dim room that is dim all over.
- The surface slopes. The green-speed read assumes a broadly flat surface.
- The phone moved. Anything hand-held will not do — it needs to be mounted.
The green speed reading looks wrong
Calibration needs several consistent putts before it locks a baseline. If your calibration strokes vary a lot the app reports the set as inconsistent and asks for another rather than publishing a number it cannot stand behind. Roll the calibration putts at a repeatable pace, with the same stroke you would use in practice. To replace a baseline you have already locked, use Re-measure green in the overflow menu.
Calibration will not let me continue
The Calibrate button stays disabled until the app has a stable, confident read. Check that the ball is clearly visible against the surface, that nothing else round is in the frame, and that the phone has stopped moving. Re-framing so the ball sits nearer the centre of the shot usually does it.
My subscription is not showing after reinstalling
Open Settings and tap Restore purchases, signed in with the same Apple ID or Google account you bought with. Subscriptions are tied to that store account, not to your device. If a restore still comes back empty, email us with the store account’s region and roughly when you purchased.
I was charged after deleting the app
Removing the app does not cancel a subscription, and neither does deleting your account in the app — Apple and Google require cancellation in their own surfaces. Cancel at Apple subscriptions or Google Play subscriptions. Refunds are also issued by the store rather than by us.
Nothing happens when I open the camera on Android
Putt measurement runs on iPhone at launch. The Android detector is designed and proven out but is not shipped yet, so the Android build cannot read putts today. We would rather say that here than let you spend an evening thinking your tripod is the problem.
Your account and data
There is no sign-up and no password to reset. To remove your anonymous ID and every practice record, follow the deletion guide — it also covers what to do once the app is gone from your phone.
How to delete your dataWhat we collect
Camera video never leaves your phone and your practice history is a local file. Anonymous usage and crash data does get sent — the policy names every field.
